How To Help Manage Cholesterol Using Oats
How much oats do I need each day to help manage my cholesterol?
Soluble fibre found in oats known as beta glucan has been shown to help reduce cholesterol. Studies have shown that an intake of 3g beta glucans per day are needed for the cholesterol lowering effects, which equates to around 40g of oat bran or 60g of oats.
Oats eaten as part of an overall heart healthy diet, low in fat and saturated fat, rich in whole grains, fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds will contribute to the cholesterol lowering effect of the diet.
